Hello! I'm Paula, the passionate yarn dyer and the heart of Purple Sprouting.
I specialise in creating distinctive hand-dyed skeins, offering a variety of designs from playful speckles to elegant variegated and semi-solid colours. Our curated collection of yarn bases includes delicate 2-ply lace weight to sturdy 8-ply/DK weights, showcasing luxurious fibres such as Merino, Bluefaced Leicester, and Silk, as well as reliable sock yarns for the comfiest projects. Our yarns are a crafter’s delight.
A bit about me - I hail from England and have woven a path through the Netherlands and Scotland before landing in New Zealand. It was here, amidst the search for truly distinctive yarns, that I began my journey into dyeing. What started as a personal quest soon spun into a community of fellow yarn enthusiasts craving my creations. From my first local craft market to hosting my very own yarn event Fibretron, it’s been an adventure.
My husband Sam (affectionately known as Mr Purple Sprouting) can usually be found at yarn events with me.
